Hi, I am new here but have been reading Indyfan since 2001. Anyway, as we should all know, the crystal skulls have been associated with Atlantis. So my fellow Indyheads, are we looking at an Indy adventure that has to do with Atlantis??? Moreover, is the title of the Crystal Skull just a blanket for another (hopefully better) title?

Re: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: aka Atlantis???

If it's a fake title, anyone who bought this shirt is going to be pissed.

Unless it becomes infamous and therefore cool.

I hesitate to mention it, but The Phantom had something to do with crystal skulls. I hope that is where the plot similarities with Indy IV end.

Re: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: aka Atlantis???

I'm going to take some convincing on the title I'm afraid. It provoked the same feeling of 'what the--?!' that the 'The Phantom Menace' did, and that movie bore out the crappiness (imho).

I'm optimistic, but a little chagrined at the title. The presence of Karen Allen is a positive, and I like a lot of the named cast. We'll see next year I guess.

Re: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: aka Atlantis???

In this EW article 78/100 people asked if they would see a movie called "The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" said no. Add in "Indiana Jones" and about that many said yes. I guess the people (or a hundred New Yorkers) have spoken, it's a lousy title, but it won't stop them from seeing Indy in action.

Re: More on Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: aka Atlantis???

Oops, my "up-to-the-minute" news post went into the wrong thread. This may be the right one. So check out the latest "Got my hat" post for info on what is happening *today* at the filming in Fresno at Chandler Field. It involves Mexico City, a DC-10, and where actual Crystal Skulls might be sighted..

For some info on the whole Crystal Skull--Maya--Atlantis thing, here are a *few* of the sites that talk about the "modern legend" of 13 crystal skulls. Do what you like with this info..

Re: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: aka Atlantis???

Just by way of background, I have a BA in Anthropology from University of California, Berkeley, an MA in Anthropology from Washington State U., a Master of Divinity degree from Pacific School of Religion...and that may be why Indy showing up at the Mexico City Airport in a movie whose title involves "Crystal Skulls" rang bells in my head.

I confess that Indy has such a prminent place in my mind my mind that when I went on a recent return trip to Viet Nam (my first since being there in the US Army in 1970-71), and saw a small statue of some monkey deity or spirit on a very old bridge in the city of Hoi Anh, I did my best to be properly courteous, but inside I was hearing "Dessert--Chilled monkey brains!"
