Welcome back Indyfans!

IJ4 came out in the theaters here today. Unfortunately I haven't had the time to see it yet. I will though... as soon as I can.

Am so excited to see the new movie but gee I hope it's not disillusioning. Please please let it be good!

I remember still the "old" forum guys way back from the late 90's. Are you guys still alive?
Welcome back... or gee... *chuckles* you were never really gone now were you?

Missed you all!

Re: Welcome back Indyfans!

I don't know where to start regarding the crystal skull! There are no words to explain how disappointed i am. The film was a total insult to the last 3. The story line was thrown together. The special effects looked like a cartoon. There was too many jokes, it just looked like people wanted to make money off of this film. It is a total disgrace! Have Lucas and Spielberg lost the plot???

Re: Welcome back Indyfans!

I thought it was better that Temple of Doom (which I only liked a little compared to the other two).
As far as the look, I felt they did a good job giving the outdoor backgrounds and such the feel of a late-50's adventure film.

Hey there Deidre!
It's good to see you. I've been lingering around here for a while, but this is the first post I've made in years. I just saw the the new movie yesterday, and I have to say that I was really disappointed. I felt like a little kid who just found out Santa Claus wasn't real. Anyways, I'll wait until you see the movie to discuss. Maybe you will enjoy it better. Take Care!

Meg! Is that really you? Great to read you again!
Gosh... I have only heard negative comments so far about this movie. I haven't had the heart to see it yet.
The poster(/s?) by Drew Struzan does look nice though!

Re: Welcome back Indyfans!

Hmm...lots of bashing here, so I'm gonna go to the other extreme. Crystal Skull is easily the second best of the lot--second only to Raiders. Sure, sure it had a few corny moments and the special effects were sometimes a little too obviously the product of computer, but so what?

For me, this felt like a family reunion. I even called it that when I told my kids what we were going to do. As their first experience seeing Indy on the big screen, they loved it. And for me, it was literally like seeing an old friend after too many years apart.

Re: Welcome back Indyfans!

Nope, the 'old guys' never left....though we don't drop in as often as we used too.

Well, to update THIS one, CS came out on DVD on Tuesday, and folks who originally 'hated' the film are singing a different tune at other websites. Now they are able to study the film frame by frame, they understand what Spielberg/Lucas/Ford were up to in creating a 1950's 'B' sci-fi film, and quite frankly, I think they did fine. Like the other 3 films there were the occasional odd scenes, but after you got by those, it was a good story.

Here's hoping for an Indy V, and yes, there are rumors of something in the wings on that possibility....

HIGH regards! Michaelson
